Shroomz Bio
Shroom got his first radio job at the age of 3 playing all of his favorite Elvis songs at a radio station broadcast from his very own bedroom.  He was never afraid of the FCC because the stations signal did not broadcast very far.  His parents told him that people all over the world tuned in to his show.  Little did he know, but the station had no signal at all.

Years later at the age of 8 Shroom landed a real radio job but was fired for defecating on the floor of the studio.  Shroom then traveled south to Cincinnati, OH with one goal in mind… to be on the WEBN Dawn Patrol!  He lived in the dumpster outside of the WEBN studio for 16 years and spent every morning begging Bob The Producer for just one chance to be behind the microphone with the Dawn Patrol.  One early morning in May of 2006 that dream came true!  The rest is history folks.

Should Emo and Goth Music Be Made Illegal?

EMO AND GOTH MUSIC TO BE MADE ILLEGAL IN RUSSIA?

According to The Moscow Times, the Russian government is in the process of drafting a law to make emo and goth music illegal.

Last month a parliamentary committee was convened to discuss a draft proposal of the Russian government's "Government Strategy In The Sphere Of Spiritual And Ethical Education" bill, the details of which were leaked to The Moscow Times. Among other measures, the proposed legislation calls for heavy regulation of emo web sites and for banning young people dressed like emos from entering schools and government buildings.

The bill also outlines what it calls a "spiritual and ethical crisis" facing Russian youth, including the high rate of alcohol abuse, teen abortions and "negative youth movements."

Emo ideology encourages and justifies drug use and sexual relations among minors, according to the bill, which also lumps emos and goths together with skinheads.

"The point of the bill is so that by 2020, Moscow will have someone to rule its government," said Alexander Grishunin, an adviser to Public Chamber member Yevgeny Yuryev, one of the bill's three coordinators. "This is the first step in the public discourse."

The bill's sponsors hope that it will be passed into law by the end of the year.

Smashing Pumpkins Song Featured in 'Watchmen' Trailer
Tuesday 07-22-2008 3:10pm ET
For those of you who saw the trailer for the upcoming movie Watchmen, you may have heard a song by the Smashing Pumpkins that you thought was new. It's called "The Beginning is the End" and it was released in 1997. The song fits perfectly into the trailer for the movie which can be viewed below.

According to RollingStone.com, the song immediately became the number one downloaded Pumpkins track on iTunes, and also made the top 40 most popular tunes overall. A spokesperson for Apple, which owns the iTunes store, said, "Oftentimes there are relations between songs prominently placed in movies or ads and their success on the iTunes charts."

  • Watchmen is due out in March of 2009 and is based on the acclaimed graphic novel, a reinvention of the superhero genre set in an alternate United States.
  • This isn't the song's first appearance in a comic-based movie. It was also included on the soundtrack of the 1997 film Batman and Robin, the last in the series until its recent reboot with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
  • The Smashing Pumpkins will begin a late summer tour on August 8th in Davenport, Iowa, with shows also planned for the fall to celebrate the group's 20th anniversary.

'THE DARK KNIGHT' HAS RECORD-SETTING OPENING WEEKEND

It was a record-setting weekend for The Dark Knight, which debuted atop the North American box office with an estimated $155.34 million, the Associated Press reports. The previous best for an opening weekend was the $151.1 million earned by Spider-Man 3 in May of last year. However, factoring in slightly higher ticket prices, Spidey 3 probably sold more individual tickets.

The Dark Knight also set a one-day record with the $67.85 it earned on Friday (July 18th). Spidey 3 had the previous one-day record with $59.8 million. The record for best debut in IMAX theaters also fell, with The Dark Knight taking in $6.2 million to Spider-Man 3's $4.7 million. Additionally, The Dark Knight made more on its opening day than three big summer hits, Hancock, WALL-E and Kung-Fu Panda, made in their respective opening weekends. It also made more money in its opening weekend than the previous top-three-opening Batman movies (Batman Forever, Batman Begins, Batman Returns) made in their opening weekends combined.

The Dark Knight added an additional $40 million to its box office total from 20 foreign markets, including Number One debuts in Ledger's native Australia and Mexico.

Metallica News: Final Artwork, Set List
Wednesday 07-23-2008 6:27pm ET

*Pictured above is the finalized artwork for 'Death Magnetic'

METALLICA has revealed the official track listing (in the final running order) for its new album, "Death Magnetic". It is as follows:

01. That Was Just Your Life
02. The End Of The Line
03. Broken, Beat & Scarred
04. The Day That Never Comes
05. All Nightmare Long
06. Cyanide
07. The Unforgiven III
08. The Judas Kiss
09. Suicide & Redemption
10. My Apocalypse

James Hetfield
stated about the new album title, "'Death Magnetic', at least the title, to me, it's… It had something to do with… It started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like Layne Staley [ALICE IN CHAINS] and a lot of the people that have died, basically — rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there. Thinking about death… some people are drawn towards it, and just like a magnet, some people are drawn towards it, [and] other people are afraid of it and push away. And the concept that we're all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about — no one wants to bring it up; it's the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point. So that's kind of the subject matter."

James Hetfield: "I don't really have to say it, but I will — he's an amazing bass player; very competent. He can play pretty much anything we throw at him. Not only that, but obviously [Robert] playing with his fingers brings a fuller sound. He — and no disrespect to Jason [Newsted, Rob's predecessor in METALLICA] — but Rob has already written more on this album than Jason had in his whole 14 years. A lot of that had to do with us not being willing, and I totally understand that, but just his material seemed to gel better. It feels as though we've known him forever, basically, is what it feels like. And there's still times when I see him in pictures with us, and I go, 'Oh, yeah! He's in our band. Dude, we kick ass even more now.' It's a good feeling."

METALLICA kicked off the second leg of its summer 2008 European tour Wednesday, July 16 at the Bergenhus Castle in Bergen, Norway.

Chris Cornell's New Single... Yay or Nay?
Thursday 07-17-2008 6:30pm ET

Chris Cornell's third solo album was produced by mega producer Timberland. Even though the song will more than likely be a huge hit on top 40 radio... I question if this was a good idea or not for Chris.
