The California teacher that had sex with her 17-year-old special needs student confirmed Wednesday that she is pregnant with the student's child. Kelly McKenzy Watson, 35, worked at New Haven Youth and Family Services in Vista teaching "emotional disturbed" students. She began her relationship with the victim in January 2012 when the boy was just 16.

Watson pleaded guilty in November to a felony charge of unlawful sex with a minor but neglected to mention her pregnancy at the time. Judge Laura Halgren sentenced Watson to three years’ probation and ordered her to spend time in jail until her due date in April, when she will be released early to give birth.

Watson's former student was in court for the sentencing, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Deputy District Attorney Mary Ellen Barrett stated that the boy still cares deeply for Watson and wants to raise the child with her.

'He is very much in love with her and is looking forward to the baby,' Barrett said of Watson's victim.

Unfortunately for Watson's teenage lover Judge Halgren ordered Watson to stay away from her former student with one exception - the birth of the couple's child. Otherwise Watson is not to have any contact with the teen nor is she allowed to work with minors in the future. However, Watson was not placed on the sex offender registry.
