Coney Island Opening Day Delayed

Even though the upcoming weekend weather is going to be much cooler than expected, Coney Island had planned to open on Saturday. A water main break has now delayed the parks opening by approximately 10 days. Apparently, a water main break in the pool area forced the delay. Sunlite Pool has to be drained and it will require some time to fix and then refill the pool. When the park does reopen it will feature several new attractions including a challenge zone and the nation's largest pool obstacle course! Coney Island Opening Delayed Due to Leak in Water Main Break in

Sunlite Water Adventure Area

CINCINNATI (For Immediate Release) Coney Island’s 2021 season opening, originally scheduled for May 29, will be delayed approximately 10 days due to a leak in a water main in the pool area. The leak emerged on Tuesday and since then, a team has been working to identify and rectify the issue. Unfortunately, to address the issue, Sunlite Pool had to be significantly drained and it will require time to complete the work and refill the pool.

“We are very disappointed that we will not able to open this week as originally expected, but we’re excited to welcome our guests back for an outstanding 2021 season as soon as possible,” said Rob Schutter, president of Coney Island.

All tickets purchased for the dates that Coney Island is temporarily closed will be honored on any public operating day throughout the 2021 season.

New attractions for the 2021 season will include Coney Island’s Challenge Zone, the largest Aquaglide pool obstacle course in the nation - and Action Alley.

Challenge Zoneis a massive floating obstacle course with more than 150 feet of climbing obstacles, monkey bars, balance beams and more. The Challenge Zone will be the largest Aquaglide pool obstacle course in the United States.
