Billy Corgan is lashing out at Amazon.com after the website posted the tracklist to the Smashing Pumpkins' upcoming Adore box set earlier than expected.
The rocker sent out a tweet Wednesday morning promising to share the tracklist on the band's website later that day. But he followed that with a "correction" tweet explaining that Amazon had jumped the gun.
Great news: ADORE box set track list to be announced on http://t.co/0RzcwgBXWM later today. Plus information on how to buy signed copies too— Billy Corgan (@Billy) July 16, 2014
CORRECTION: Amazon decided to break an agreement and post track listing of ADORE first; despite assurances otherwise that asked us to wait— Billy Corgan (@Billy) July 16, 2014
OBVIOUSLY I've had ADORE track list for 4 months, and could have posted anytime. But we try to co-ordinate these releases to balance all— Billy Corgan (@Billy) July 16, 2014
So all I can say is that a/ never again will I trust such promises and that b/ for now on I'll just do right by SP peeps first and foremost— Billy Corgan (@Billy) July 16, 2014
We'll post later on http://t.co/0RzcwgBXWM how you can pre-order from us at a cheaper price, as well as special, autographed editions— Billy Corgan (@Billy) July 16, 2014
AND btw, Amazon track list is WRONG. I'm just saying...— Billy Corgan (@Billy) July 16, 2014
Corgan says he's had the tracklist ready to go for months now, but decided to wait after talking to the record label. Corgan also claims that Amazon broke an agreement by posting the details early, and adds a lengthy digression on the Smashing Pumpkins' website about how this incident is indicative of the many problems with the music business as a whole.
Of course, Corgan also shared some info about the new "Adore" box set. Fans can get the full details about the six-disc, one-DVD collection at SmashingPumpkinsNexus.com, and pre-order it at MadameZuzus.com.
