( Highland Heights ) In a letter to the Board of Regents, Northern Kentucky University President Geoffrey Mearns writes that former Athletic Director Dr. Scott Eaton (pictured) admitted to diverting between $100,000 to $150,000 from the department for personal purposes.
Dr. Eaton was fired earlier this year after an investigation found that he had engaged in sexual misconduct with several female employees and a student.
President Mearns says an accounting firm conducted a thorough financial review of the athletic department and when Dr. Eaton found out, he hired an attorney and had two meetings with the university's legal counsel. During those meetings, Mearns says Eaton "admitted to using deceptive means to improperly divert University resources for personal purposes."
Mearns also writes that he has referred the matter to law enforcement.
A statement from Eaton's attorney says it's still unclear exactly how much money was improperly diverted. To read his statement, click here---> View Document
