(Over-the-Rhine) -- Groundbreaking for the Mercer Garage was just eleven months ago, and where there was an empty lot, now there is a 340-space parking structure, surrounded by construction.

The new garage is just part of a larger development project: Mercer Commons, a 3CDC project rehabing old structures, and building new, for condos and apartments in the middle of Over-the-Rhine, between Vine and Walnut.

City Manager Milton Dohoney says the redevelopment is giving people another choice for living and visiting.  And he says the trends show, they are going to the city's center.

Later this month, 3CDC plans to break ground on another phase of Mercer Commons: more than 60 apartments, nearly half of which will be affordable housing.
